Commission Policies

  1. Bill Belfield (Maker) and Client will discuss any and all options for the commission piece prior to the start of the project. Questions may be asked during the process of assembly, though it is understood no major changes will be accepted after assembly has begun. Decisions to be made are, but not limited to:

Type of axe and axe head, wedge design, wedge material, handle material, handle design such as burned or not burned looks, custom leather mask or no mask, possible paracord over strike guard and color, possible palm swell and palm swell material options, engraving, etc.

  2. Maker will provide Client with a price estimate range prior to the start of the project.

  3. Once a design and options have been discussed and a timeline of completion is agreed upon, Maker will receive a 60 percent, non-refundable deposit to be paid by Client. Once deposit is received by the Maker, work may begin. The deposit will go towards to full purchase price of the commission piece once completed.

  4. It is understood by the Client that each piece is unique, and though Maker will implement every design element to the best of their talents, no two pieces will be identical since each piece is made by hand. Different types of wood behave differently, resulting in different looks and functions which Client and Maker will have discussed beforehand. Any photos shared on website or by Maker are subject to subtle differences due to lighting and/or screen resolution, as well as design elements implemented.

  5. If for any reason Maker realizes they will not be able to complete the project by the agreed upon timeline, Maker will contact Client as soon as possible. If the Client no longer wishes to move forward with the project, in this case alone, a full refund of the deposit will be returned to the Client.

  6. Once the project is completed, Client has a maximum of 14 days to pay the remaining cost of their commission piece, as well as any shipping costs, if necessary. If payment is not received, said commission piece is considered forfeit by Client and is therefore the property of Belfield Axe and Tool to be listed for sale. No deposit will be returned to Client.

  7. Once Maker has received full payment by Client, the commission piece will be delivered to the client in the agreed upon arrangement such as: shipping, face-to-face delivery or meet up arrangements.

Product Guarantee

We here at Belfield Axe and Tool stand by our work. However, life happens and we understand that.

If within 90 days of purchase, a break or dysfunction occurs due to workmanship such as a hammer or axe head coming loose from the handle or a handle (outfit with a paracord overstrike guard) breaks after use, reach out to explain what happened. If the break was a result of workmanship, we will repair it for free. Client pays shipping if necessary.

It is very important to us to always be improving. Knowing and repairing our mistakes help us learn!

If the fault of the break is the Customer’s, such as you ran it over with your car, or a handle breaks from repeated overstriking and no overstrike guard was purchased, then we are happy to repair it but at an agreed upon commission cost.
