This was a commissioned project.

My client brought me his old machete he’d had for 30 years, said he’d used it mostly for chopping coconuts while living in Hawaii.

Covered in both rust and spray paint. When I started the project it was just something he’d always had, but then I uncovered a makers mark and discovered “L Urec” and was able to trace it back to a WWI Military issued battle machete.

This brought a whole new level of importance to the project. In the end I made it a serviceable tool to keep and use for another 100 years.

I gave it a brand new handle after a ton of hand polishing and sharpening.

A beautiful leather sleeve was made by Charles and Thatch.
